About

Born in Miami, Florida, USA.
Lives and works in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Sarah Smitherman is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice consists of material explorations and the inclusion of found objects. Often, her work explores notions of place, time, and memory. Sarah is a two-time recipient of the Arts, Culture and Heritage Fund (ACHF) grant from the City of Windsor, and has received several other awards during her career. Her art has been displayed in exhibitions within Canada, Europe, and the United States. Based in Windsor, Sarah travels regularly to visit her hometown and hike around the globe to deepen her understanding of place. Recently, she has developed and delivered workshops for her local art gallery (Art Windsor-Essex) which encourage the community to explore their surroundings for inspiration.
