The notion of microcosm-macrocosm is explored by documenting microenvironments constructed with paint pigments on microscope slidesThis concept was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s studies about smaller structures being repeated at larger scales throughout the cosmos. In each photo, there are structures which evoke the memory of a landscape. In the making of the paintings, loose pieces of dry paint were included so that the same photos could not be retaken after. While photographing the paintings with a microscope, the artist recalled memories of watching the Star Wars movies as a child. She remembered the swampy planet, the icy planet, and the fiery planet. This series of images represent her memory of these places when she watched the series for the first time.
