Pigments Under the Microscope (300x), 2023
Photographic prints
42w x 33.6h in
The notion of microcosm-macrocosm is explored through documenting microenvironments constructed with paint pigments on microscope slides. This concept was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s studies about smaller structures being repeated at larger scales throughout the cosmos. In each photo, there are structures which evoke the memory of a landscape. In the making of the paintings, loose pieces of dry paint were included so that the same photos could not be retaken after.
